COMMUNICATION IS THE KEY!

We do communicate on daily basis, that's one of a reason why we have to do effective communication, because a good communication will lead to several benefit to you.

So, the question is : Do you want to communicate better?

Here's tips that will help you avoid misunderstandings, grasp the real meaning of what’s being communicated, and greatly improve your communication skills.

📣 THE IMPORTANCE OF COMMUNICATION 📣

Why is communication important to human life?

Communication is foundation of all human relationships. Communication is process of sending and receiving information. Human communicate not only by face-to-face communication, but also by giving information via internet, social media, call, printed product such as books and newspapers. Many people believe that the significance of communication  is like the importance of breathing.

Moreover, here's several reason why communication plays vital role in human life :

1. Communication helps to spread knowledge and information among people

2. Communication helps people to express human's feelings and ideas
(at same time, helps to understand emotion and thoughts of the other)

3. Helps people to develop relationships with others.

📣 A FAILURE TO COMMUNICATE

What happen when communication fails?

Here are six things that can arise from a lack of communication.

1. Misunderstandings

Misunderstandings happen all the time — especially when communication is not clear. And misunderstandings out of a lack of communication can lead to some serious issues because information is not conveyed properly.

2. Missed opportunities

A lack of communication can often lead to missed opportunities, especially at work. This can happen because an employee does not clearly communicate their interest in an opening for a promotion, for example, or because they don't effectively communicate their interest and/or willingness to take on more responsibilities. As such, they may be passed up for the promotion.

3. Unnecessary conflict

Unnecessary conflict can certainly arise from a lack of communication. Due to the delivery and reception of information that is not good, as a result, other people receive incorrect information.

4. The "grapevine" effect

A lack of communication can lead to the "grapevine" effect, also known as the "telephone game." If one person miscommunicates information, that information can easily be passed along throughout the society. Of course, the dissemination of misinformation can lead to gossips, disarray, panic and overall disaster.

5. Mistrust

A lack of communication can lead to mistrust in a whole array of situations. If someone deliver a wrong information because of lack of communication, that people maybe got mistrust and disrespect from other people.

6. A broken human relationship

A lack of communication can ultimately lead to broken human relationship. Because ineffective communication can create misunderstandings, missed opportunities, conflict, the dissemination of misinformation and mistrust.

📣 CAUSE OF INEFFECTIVE OR BAD COMMUNICATION 📣

What’s stopping you
from communicating effectively?

Common barriers to effective communication include:

Stress and out-of-control emotion. When you’re stressed or emotionally overwhelmed, you’re more likely to misread other people, send confusing or off-putting nonverbal signals, and lapse into unhealthy knee-jerk patterns of behavior. To avoid conflict and misunderstandings, you can learn how to quickly calm down before continuing a conversation.

Lack of focus. You can’t communicate effectively when you’re multitasking. If you’re checking your phone, planning what you’re going to say next, or daydreaming, you’re almost certain to miss nonverbal cues in the conversation. To communicate effectively, you need to avoid distractions and stay focused.

Inconsistent body language. Nonverbal communication should reinforce what is being said, not contradict it. If you say one thing, but your body language says something else, your listener will likely feel that you’re being dishonest. For example, you can’t say “yes” while shaking your head no.

Negative body language. If you disagree with or dislike what’s being said, you might use negative body language to rebuff the other person’s message, such as crossing your arms, avoiding eye contact, or tapping your feet. You don’t have to agree with, or even like what’s being said, but to communicate effectively and not put the other person on the defensive, it’s important to avoid sending negative signals.

📣 HOW TO BECOME A GOOD COMMUNICATOR 📣

1. Become an engaged listener by focus fully on the speaker.

2. Pay attention to nonverbal signals
(Improve how you read & deliver nonverbal communication)

3. Deliver your words clearly

4. Use body language (avoid negative body language)

5. Avoid interrupting

6. Communicate effectively by staying calm under pressure
